Christmas 2012

We were able to stay home on Christmas Eve this year and had hoped to go to church.  Unfortunately, both kids have been battling a cold or virus and I decided they needed to just stay home and rest as much as possible.  Maw Susan and Paw Briggs joined us for dinner...
Each person had a say in the menu.  We had a honey baked ham (Paul) and roasted turkey breast (Maw Susan), mashed potatoes (April), cranberry salad (Paw Briggs), chips and salsa (Logan), corn on the cob (Paul), rolls (Sophie) and brownies (Sophie).  After dinner, we opened presents.

We put out cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer then sent the kids to bed.  This is what we found in the morning.  Guess Santa was getting full.
The kids actually slept in a bit but once they woke up it was all about the gifts and stockings.

After a quick breakfast, we headed to Aledo for Christmas with the Walkers'.  Just after lunch it started to snow, so we had ourselves a Texas White Christmas!

We came home to relax for a bit before heading outside for a snowball fight then had some snow ice cream.

We had such a great and relaxing Christmas!

We went to East Texas for Christmas with the sisters a few days later.  We also saw Grandpa again and opened presents with him.  Although the legos and barbies were appreciated, the big hit for all the grand kids was the bag of coins they each got.  It's really kind of crazy how long a bunch of pennies and nickels can keep a kid occupied.
