Zoo with Daddy, Too

We decided to go to the zoo this morning. I know, way too hot, but we didn't stay long (the benefit of having passes). We finally saw the baby bonobo that was born earlier this year. She was so cute! We took Daddy for a train ride before leaving to have lunch at Panera Bread. Sophie fell asleep in the car and will probably be out for another 2 hours. So far, great day!

This is what you get if you ask Sophie how old she is.

Cupcake Cutie

I decided to make cupcakes last night and since we had lots of sprinkles leftover from Sophie's birthday, we got to decorate them ourselves (even Sophie).

Doesn't she just look so pleased with herself!

Final product! Don't they look delicious!

Gaylord Day 2

We slept in, then headed back to the Riverwalk Cafe for breakfast. Sophie had corned beef hash and blueberries for the first time. She seemed to like them both, but scrambled eggs were still her favorite.

After breakfast we headed to the pool for some fun in the sun.

It was so great to get away even if it was just for the night.

The Gaylord Texan

We had a great time at the Gaylord Texan . We had our choice of several restaurants on the premises for dinner. We decided to do the all-you-can-eat buffet at the Riverwalk Cafe. Paul loves all-you-can-eat!

After dinner we went "Down the Rabbit Hole", which was a 3D blacklight maze.

The atrium was decorated with several displays from the Wonderland books. They had a balloon sculpture of the griffon, large metal flowers, sand sculpture of the queens table, topiary rabbit, metal wind sculpture for the jabberwocky, plus lots more.

When we passed this display, Sophie stopped to stare. She likes to watch the flamingos at the zoo, too.

She wouldn't come away from these lights. I think she thought it was the same thing that is at the splash parks (the thing that starts the sprinklers going).

There was lots of water...fountains, fake river, small ponds. I think Sophie would have been swimming in each of them if we'd let her.

There was a huge chess set. I wish I knew how to play, I know Paul would have enjoyed that.

Sophie probably walked a hundred miles while we were there.

All American Cutie

Don't you just love the pigtails. It's like she has fireworks to go with her dress!

Mad Hatter's Tea Party

We went on a mini vacation just Paul and Sophie and I. We went stayed the night at the Gaylord Texan. They are having a special exhibit all about Alice in Wonderland. We took Sophie to the Mad Hatter's Tea Party. The kids were able to frost and decorate their own cupcakes. The Mad Hatter was pretty funny doing tricks and making jokes. I think Sophie had a great time, and she loves frosting!

Head Trauma

Sophie has made another trip to the ER. While we were visiting my sister, she fell (while walking around) and hit her head on the kitchen tile. I heard it, immediately went to her, and there was already a bump sticking out of her head above her eye. She was crying pretty good and wouldn't let us apply an ice pack. I knew that having a bump was actually a good thing, but I couldn't remember anything else. Kelly knew it was probably okay, but she also saw that I was about to completely freak out. James was on his way home and got there by the time I got Sophie strapped in the car and a bag packed.

Kelly drove us to an after-hours ER clinic. As we were waiting to see the doctor, Sophie looks up and is all smiles and her normal happy self. I was feeling kind of silly about being there especially since the bump was already going down. We saw the doctor who assured us that everything would be fine. We just needed to pack sure she didn't throw up or pass out. He said the fact that she was fighting him while he was checking her out was a good sign. We headed home and she now has a nice purple bruise on her forehead.

We weren't home about an hour, when Kalyn fell on the kitchen and bite her lip, bleeding all over the place. At that point, we decided we should all go to bed and avoid any more mishaps.

Going to Whitehouse

We had such a great time visiting the cousins in East Texas. Kalyn and Sophie would play together. Of course, Sophie had more fun taking Kalyn's pacifier and blanket. She would grab and then take of running. Kalyn got lots of practice walking chasing Sophie to get her stuff back.

A rare moment where both girls had their own cups.

Kalyn would stack the cups and Sophie would knock them down. Teamwork!

Sophie loves to climb. She was setting a bad example for Kalyn.

I bought these bubble blowers. Matthew was in charge of keeping the bubbles blowing while the girls chased them.

Teeth

I've been trying to a picture of her 2 top teeth, but I haven't had any luck. Here are the ones on the bottom. You get to see these all the time because she is always smiling (okay, not always, see previous post).
