Earth Day Playgroup
We met up with some of the Hurst Luna Moms Group for a play date at the park. We played for a bit then decorated our own reusable bags.
Sophie didn't really care for the swings.
Please note the animals she's looking at: Tiger (as in the current year's Chinese symbol), panda (for MIC), and elephant (for Sophie).
Love this mom's idea creating a peacock from her baby's hand print.
Sophie's masterpiece!

Balloon Festival
We took Sophie to a balloon festival today. They were letting the public in to view the sculptures they had been entered into a contest/competition. There were various categories: Large, medium, and small sculptures, table arrangements, deliverables, etc. Parking was ridiculous, they had way more people than they expected show up and were not at all prepared for that, but we had fun.
The following is of a Tiger "lion"dance sculpture.
Look closely and you'll see the crayons. (My favorite.)
And of course, an elephant...Sophie's favorite!

Photo Shoot
Today, we went back to my brother-in-laws mother's home to spend time with Aunt Kelly and the cousins. One of the family members has started her own photography studio and she brought her stuff to take pictures of Kalyn and Sophie. She had pink tutus with pearl necklaces for them to wear. She also did some where she put a big bowl of cheerios between them and just let them go to town eating them. Those turned out so cute. You can check out her blog here. She might even get some pictures of them on it.
This picture is one I took while we waited for Kalyn to wake up from nap.

Playing Outside
The weather has been so nice lately. We have really enjoyed playing outside. Sophie loves all the new sights and sounds that accompany being outside. She does NOT love the feel of dry grass on her knees though. We have been using that to our advantage trying to coax Sophie to walk. Here are a few pictures of her bear crawling to avoid the grass.
Here she is standing all by herself. She even took a step then would sit down.

We are so thankful for this beautiful weather!

Vote for Sophie
Please go to our favorite "fancy" photographer's website here and vote for Sophie with her teddy bear. You can vote once a day, everyday, all month. The last time Sophie was in the contest she got second place, but we really want to win. If she does then she will be featured on the website and we'll be in a drawing for a free portrait.
We have been getting Sophie's portraits done with Stewart's every three months. The first time we didn't think they got any good shots. Were we wrong! Every shot was great. It was so hard to choose which one's to get ( and we had to choose because we can't afford them all, ha!).
If you are in our area, we highly recommend Stewart's Photography!

Sophie at Preschool
Sophie isn't actually old enough to attend preschool where I work yet, but she has been "visiting" now that she has gotten so mobile. She will go into the babies room in the morning before the kids get there and stay until about 9:20. Then some days she'll go and play in their room while they are in the crib room napping. I am so appreciative of the teachers who promise me they don't mind watching her so I can get a few things done (like payroll, ha!). On this particular day she spent a little more time in the room because they had several kids out and I needed to help with the egg hunts. During the egg hunt, this is where she was just watching it all happen. I know she really wanted to get and play but with all those kiddos running around I was afraid she might get run over. She is so ready to go to school!

Easter Eggstravaganza
We had a great Easter weekend!
On Saturday we dyed eggs. I saw this trick on a blog to use a wire whisk to hold the eggs. GENIUS!!!
The Easter Bunny came bringing lots of goodies.
The Easter Bunny gave Sophie this Kai-Lan doll. She hasn't really gotten into dolls yet, but we are trying. As you probably know, we have a soft spot for Kai-Lan (since she's Chinese like MIC), but this doll is crazy weird. Her head is so big and heavy we couldn't get her to lean or sit up (all she could do was lay down). And she's definitely not very cuddly, or huggable.
We met Paul's parents at church for the Contemporary service. After church we went to Pappasito's for lunch. They had an Easter Bunny walking around. I tried to get Sophie's picture with him, but she kept turning away.
After lunch, Paul and I got to go see a movie while Grandma and Grandad babysat. Grandma Noi also brought goodies.
Sophie had lots of fun hunting eggs after her nap. I found these eggs that make noise, talking and giggling. Sophie and Wrangler were both trying to find them. She didn't quite get the point of the basket but she did find all the eggs.
