Lakeside Fun

We decided to go to the local lake today and have a picnic lunch. Sophie let us sleep until 8am, so we didn't get out there as early as I thought we would. There were a lot of people, but not so much that we couldn't enjoy ourselves. Sophie loved being in the water, but hated walking on the sand. It was funny watching her walk in the water because she would pick her feet up really high. We played in the sand then had some lunch before we headed home for a nap. We left at a good time as the line to get in was very long when we drove out.

On the Move

We went to church this evening for Bells, Brass, and Burgers. We had a great dinner of burgers and yummy dessert, then stayed for a few songs of the concert. Sophie was getting restless so we left early. Below is her walking all over before the concert started.

Mini Stroller Strides Class

After class today, they had a Mini Stroller class for our little ones. Sophie's friend Isabella gave her a new doll for her birthday but had really wanted to give her a stroller, so I got one earlier this week. We've been practicing all week. The kiddos were so cute pushing their strollers (and lawn mowers for the boys). They didn't really care about the different exercise stations, but we all have to start somewhere.

Playtime

Our favorite thing about StrollerStrides at the mall is getting to play in the kids area. Sophie loves to slide, but she's too quick for me to get a picture.

Trip to Fire Station

Sophie and I took my nephew Matthew to visit a brand new fire station with a moms group. Matthew got hot, tired, and thirsty after 5 minutes so I didn't get any pictures with him, but here is Sophie and I.

Wedding Dress Pictures

So I was a few days late but I did get pictures of Sophie in my wedding dress. Now I need help deciding which shot to have printed in black and white and blown up to hang on the wall. Any opinions?

Such a Big Girl

Sophie loves her table and chairs that Mr. Miller made. Of course, she now knows how to climb from the chair onto the table. She also loves to push the chairs all over the kitchen.

By the way, she also loves chocolate milk. And no I'm not a bad mommy. The doctor told me to give her Carnation Instant Breakfast once a day to help her gain the weight.

Dragon Boat Races and Festival

I found out about this event through one of my Meetup groups. We watched one of the races, saw the biggest kite ever, and had some food.

But the highlight was the Lion Dances. Paul's old kung fu school was the one doing the lion dances. Sophie seemed very interested, just staring at the stage.

We stopped to talk to a family that had shirts that said "Families with Children from China". Found out that this is a group we can join now. They had 2 teams in the races, including a children's team.

We had a great morning and can't wait to go again next year!

Presents

Thank you notes are coming, but I wanted to say "Thank you" for all the gifts. I think Sophie is a little overwhelmed by it all.

We waited to open presents until after we got home. We would open a few at a time over the course of several days.

Because we invited all the preschool families, we suggested no gifts or donations for the preschool. We received several items for all the kids to enjoy. Thanks again to everyone!

Gardening With Grandma

Since Maw Susan has her own garden in Michigan, she helped Sophie make one here in Texas.

They planted tomatoes, peppers, some herbs, sunflowers, carrots, and a Thai pepper plant.

Sophie found the watering hose with just a trickle of water coming out. I guess she was thirsty!

Zoo Day!

We decided to take Sophie to the zoo for her birthday. We hope to do this every year.


The giraffes were Sophie's favorite animals. They were out eating and playing and she could see them very well.


Of course, we had to see the elephants.


We didn't stay too long this trip, but we got passes so we will be back often.
